What is Professional Supervision?
Supervision is the formal process of professional support and learning that enables individual practitioners to develop their knowledge and competence. It helps them assume responsibility for their own practice and enhances consumer protection and the safety of care in complex clinical situations. Supervision is essential for the learning process and the scope of practice, serving as a means to encourage self-assessment, as well as analytical and reflective skills.
The objectives of my eating disorders supervision program are to facilitate the growth and development of your expertise and clinical talent, along with building rapport and a counseling style that elicits transformation within your clients. I work virtually and offer individual and group supervision. You are welcome to organize your own group.
What does supervision include?
- Case reviews
- Working with complex clients
- Maintaining control over the counseling session
- Skill building
- Integrative therapies, including yoga therapy
- Navigating through difficult cases
- Developing your credibility
- Keeping current with cutting-edge research in the field
- Business and marketing to enhance your eating disorders private practice
What sets my eating disorders supervision apart?
As a former comprehensive center for eating disorders business owner, I have worked with patients in higher levels of care (partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs) along with outpatient treatment, and bring this vast experience, in working with complex patients, to supervisees who work with eating disorders across the spectrum. In addition, many of my supervisees appreciate my experience in business and integrating yoga into treatment as they seek out this information from me to enhance their work in the eating disorders field. My involvement in iaedp shows my commitment to the eating disorders community, including my presentations at iaedp symposiums and writing contributions on iaedp membersSHARE. Through my virtual training and consulting center, supervisees can be located anywhere in the country. Although my style with patients is direct and compassionate, I work with my supervisees to bring them into their patient sessions, honing the style that brings out their true, authentic selves.

"While working in private practice, I sought out professional supervision from Beverly to support me in care of patients with eating disorders. As we began, Beverly was very professional, organized and clear about expectations and the nature of supervision. During multiple sessions with another dietitian and I, Beverly resourced us diligently with tools for intake, assessment and monitoring. She also generously shared some of her own resources with us to fill gaps or to address potential pitfalls. In addition, we were introduced to to outside resources and tools that we could adapt for our own practice. Throughout the process of supervision, she listened very carefully to challenges being presented, and would ask guiding questions to help us to identify solutions at hand. I found her contributions to be insightful, warmly supportive and relevant to my practice. Beverly's wisdom from her own lived professional experience is truly a gift."
